Milan Design Week 2022 | In Review

The 60th Design Week took place in Milan this June and there were an influx of visitors from across the globe celebrating beauty, creativity and innovation within the design world. Whilst the event was full of incredible displays, there were a few firm favourites that stood out specifically. Take a look at our round-up of the best exhibits from across design week below.

Hermes: Quest for Lightness

Playing with Texture, Materials and Transparency

Hermes - Milan Design Week

Let their be light. Hermes' display was centred on the search for light and the impact that it has on any design space. Examining the creation of light through variation in textures and materials, and playing with the notion of transparency, the exhibit made us re-think the importance of the L word in our homes. There is no doubt that a light and airy space is coveted by most and we've got the lightweight textures to help elevate your home: try our Carmen Woven Bowl or Sandra Woven Bowl.

Loewe: The Art of Weaving

Artisanal Craftwork and Natural Fibres
Loewe - Milan Design Week
If there was one exhibition that captured our hearts it had to be Loewe's exploration of traditional artisan hand weaving. Unravelling concepts such as sustainability and traditional craftsmanship, the works on show included handmade baskets and bags using leather and natural fibres to sculpt and weave using traditional techniques. Looking for some handwoven sculpted pieces? Take a look at our Guapi Cuatro Tetas Collection.

Ralph Lauren: Palazzo Collection

Classic Blue & White Al Fresco Dining

Ralph Lauren - Milan Design Week

One of the many joys of the European summer are the long afternoons reserved for al fresco dining. As part of Ralph Lauren's Palazzo Collection, we got a look at the carefully curated courtyard paying homage to the delights of al fresco dining. With stripes and checks in classic blue and white, adorning the outdoor seating and matching blue and white ceramics gracing the bistro tables, we knew just where to look to recreate the summer outdoor dining vibe - our Olivia Striped Collection in Classic Blue.

Dolce & Gabbana: Blu Mediterraneo

Classic Blue Motifs and Patterns
Dolce and Gabbana - Milan Design Week
It's all about the blue and white this season. Ralph Lauren gave us a little taster with their elegantly curated al fresco dining exhibit, but Dolce & Gabbana took it to the next level with their Blue Mediterraneo Casa. With iconic Mediterranean prints in deep azure blue and crisp bright white, they had us longing for a beachside Mediterranean abode. Buccellati x Ginori 1735: Il Galateo

Celebrating Conviviality
Buccellati - Milan Design Week

Whilst showcasing their new porcelain collection in collaboration with renowned porcelain manufacturer Ginori 1735, Buccellati's design exhibition centred around the idea of enjoying the long awaited gatherings of friends and family around the dinner table. The art of savouring such moments and taking full advantage of the Spanish 'sobremesa' (relaxing and conversing at the table after a much enjoyed meal) is a quality which we feel should be an essential part of life - especially as the warmer months and longer days are upon us. Shop our Tableware Collection to make sure you're ready for a summer of social dining.
